Join Shawn & Brad every Sunday starting May 6th, as they hold the space for our Nola community to meditate.
The practice of maintaining posture, along with awareness of breath and attitude of mind, helps us become witnesses to the multitude of thoughts that constantly flow through our minds. We simply allow these thoughts to pass, finding instead our center of balance and the vast potential of staying connected to the here and now.
Shawn Mitzel began practicing sitting meditation after attending an Introduction to Zen class at the New Orleans Zen Temple in 2009, taught by its founder Robert Livingston Roshi. The profound teaching of simply sitting without a goal, aim, purpose, or for personal profit, made an everlasting impression in his life. In January of 2017, Shawn took the vows of a bodhisattva during a lay ordination ceremony. He maintains a daily meditation practice and assists the current abbot of NOZT, Richard Collins, with the monthly Introduction to Zen Meditation course.
The benefits of meditation that have been proved through science are now countless. Start a meditation practice sooner, rather than later!!!
