Getting it Together for 2019

I don’t know about y’all, but I love a good New Year’s resolution. There’s something so hopeful about a new year. New year, new me, right? I like to think of it as new year, better me. 2018 was pretty hectic / chaotic for us, navigating our new normal with two kids. I FINALLY feel like we’re hitting our sweet spot and finding our groove as a family of four.

My husband and I are both big planners who thrive on routines and planning ahead (as best as we can now with two wild little boys!). We have been talking about our goals for 2019 which has me excited for everything next year will have in store for us.

There are a few things that I think will help me “get it together” for 2019, that being my overall goal for next year. Here are a few tips that I plan on trying out and that hopefully could help you out if you, like myself, are trying to have it a little more together next year.

GET A PLANNER – I live for a good planner you guys. This past year I had a Day Designer one from Target that I really liked. I’ve had an Erin Condren one as well but didn’t keep up with it. For 2019, I ordered myself a Plum Planner on Black Friday and am loving it! I also got some fun planner stickers from Michael’s that make everything look even prettier and more put together. So far, it’s making me feel like I already have it more together for next year.

WORKOUT – I always always always feel better after I workout. Endorphins make people happy, right? No matter if I’m exhausted, busy, etc etc. … if I make myself workout, I never regret it. There really are no excuses to not exercise anymore. Join a gym. Download an app. Follow a workout on YouTube. Just get up an move and instantly feel better!

MEAL PLAN – I cannot even tell you how many nights I put off cooking dinner until it’s super late. I end up not knowing what to cook, and then we just get takeout. We are already being proactive for next year (yay!) and set weekly dinner menus through January. Even if something pops up and we have to change some things around, it’s nice to see a plan on paper that will hopefully make us stick more to meal planning and cooking at home.

STAY ORGANIZED AT HOME – Do y’all know that amazing feeling when the laundry’s finished, the dishwasher’s going, the tables are cleaned off, and the floor is swept? I don’t have that feeling often, but when I do, I feel like I could take on the world! I know that it’s not realistic with two toddlers at home to think that everything is going to be clean and organized all the time, but I think some level of organization could be achieved. I plan on having at least one / two household chores done a day, and hopefully that will lead to a more organized, peaceful home.

Obviously life happens and sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but I am feeling really good about going in to 2019 ready to better myself while also being the best wife and mom I can be.

What are some of your New Year’s resolutions / goals you’re looking forward to in 2019? Do you have any tried and true tips on how to stay organized and keep it together?
