French Market District Rings in the Holidays with Multi-Weekend St. Nick Celebration

With three centuries of history and six blocks of shopping there is ALWAYS something happening at the French Market. This year the French Market District has expanded the fun and added a multi-weekend St. Nick Celebration.

Here is what local moms need to know about the St. Nick Celebration at the French Market District ::

What :: The French Market District has been dressed in holiday style and will be merrymaking with a multi-weekend St. Nick Celebration in Dutch Alley.

When :: Beginning the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving continuing through four consecutive weekends the St. Nick Celebration will offer live music, an art market, kid’s activities, and free photos with Santa with purchase!

Who :: The festivities will take place at the Dutch Alley Performance Pavilion and will feature performances for the whole family including Preservation Hall All-Star Band, the Victory Belles, and Johnette Downing.

Why :: “The French Market District is elated to offer the multi-weekend St. Nick Celebration this holiday season,” stated Jeremy Smith, Director of Marketing and Development for the French Market Corporation. “With the District dressed in holiday style, including our 30 foot Christmas tree in Washington Artillery Park across from Jackson Square, we’re inviting locals, as well as tourists, to visit and enjoy.”

Lagniappe :: During the St. Nick Celebration the French Market District will offer free photos with Santa with a $25 purchase from any of our retailers in the historic Upper Pontalba Building and along the Colonnade just beyond Café du Monde.  “With so many unique shops in the French Market District offering gifts for everyone on your list it’s the perfect time to shop local,” added Jeremy Smith.
