{Tis’ The Season To Be Giving} Choose Ronald McDonald House Charities and Receive, Too!

Giving Season

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and with November comes ideas galore about how and why and who to give to. Some do 30-days of giving, others may volunteer and still others look{Tis' The Season To Be Giving} Choose Ronald McDonald House Charities and Receive, Too! for organizations to donate money to. Our family does a little of everything, but one of our favorites continues to be giving to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The Little Red Box

We have four children ages two through nine; old enough to do chores. There are many ways we have them help around the house but November brings Lagniappe (Nola speak for “a little somethin’ extra). All month long, when our children do chores, they earn coins toward their charity. Folding laundry or emptying the dishwasher could yield a quarter whereas clearing the table or feeding the dog might go for a dime. At the end of the week, we take a trip to McDonalds for a $2.99 Happy Meal and while we’re there, the kids get to donate their earnings. One of the highlights of our week is getting to drop the coins one by one into the Little Red Box.

Why Ronald McDonald House?

We choose Ronald McDonald House Charities because we’ve seen how incredible the services they provide are. For starters, Ronald McDonald House offers sleeping arrangements for families close to hospitals where their children are staying at little to no cost. The 15-bedroom New Orleans Ronald McDonald House is located at 4403 Canal Street and serves about 85 families each month. We know right where our money is going when we give and we can see it with our own eyes.

Give Some Get Some

To sweeten the deal, when you visit McDonald’s and donate $1, $3 or $5 between November 7 and November 30th, you will receive a “thank you” coupon for a free small fries or hash browns (no purchase required, valid through 11/30). If you’ve ever had McDonald’s hash browns, you will know that’s what I’m looking forward to the most in this promotion!

Have you ever been assisted by Ronald McDonald House Charities or know someone who has? Tell us about it in the comments! We can’t wait to hear from you.
