September is here! School is in full swing, football is back on and we’re right around the corner from all things pumpkin spice, y’all. Get ready to plan your month with the help of our guide!

This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide {we maintain a full calendar of events right here}. We’ve pulled out a select number of events for your family to enjoy throughout the month. If you have suggestions or additions, please leave a comment!

September 4 :: Enjoy Labor Day at Port Orleans Brewing Company for Blues, Beer & Wing Thing.

September 5-7 :: Feet First is hosting a Per Vigore fall apparel trunk show. Founder and New Orleans native Sarah Pottharst is traveling from Italy to join them each day from 12-6 PM.

September 7 :: Learn basic skills to revive your child or infant and relieve them from choking with Nurse Nikki at Zukababy.  (This is a non-certifying class).

September 9 ::  “Super Hero Run” 5k & 1 mile fun run at Terra Bella Village. All proceeds will benefit HOPE Charities to help families living with chronic illness find resources. Learn more and register here.

September 9 :: Hall Piano Academy is holding an Open House for potential new students ages 6-adult. We will be offering FREE trial lessons on the spot, as well as specials on lessons and rentals. No pre-registration necessary.

September 9 :: Enjoy coffee and beignets, meet a travel expert, a skincare guru and a fashionista! Disney expert and travel planner Tara Jones will host a Disney 101, sharing essential tips for planning your Disney vacation! Jennifer Teague with Rodan and Fields will be sharing the latest skin care products and giving beauty tips! Also joining us is Stephanie Petras from Stella and Dot with fashion tips and new trends! Contests, activities, and prizes will be part of the fun at New Orleans Coffee & Beignet Co, {4141 St. Charles Ave 70115; 9-11 am}

September 9 :: The 2017 Saints Kickoff Run is back in its 6th year! The race starts outside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in Champions Square, continues down Poydras Street and through the French Quarter before runners return to finish on the field at the 50 yard line!

September 9 :: Take your little one to La Petite Tea Room for a morning of dress-up, New Orleans themed crafts, nail polish application, tattoos, a tea party and a chance to meet Princess Tiana!

September 10 :: 2nd Annual Jewish Community Day School Family Fun Day! Bounce and play with JCC’s after school sports demos, JCDS STEAM discovery, with snowballs and snacks! Light lunch and adult beverages available for purchase.

September 12 :: Uptown Needle & CraftWorks is having an Intermediate/Advanced Sewing workshop series for ages 8 and up. Pre-registration is required.

September 12 :: Ahoy, mateys! The #ElmwoodStorageGuy has hidden his treasure in the Elmwood Shopping Center! Begin the journey at Elmwood Self Storage where you will be given a clue that will direct you to the next stop around the shopping center! Enjoy goodies at each participating stop and, who knows, enjoy a quick rum with your mates! Every explorer who completes the Treasure Hunt will be entered to win a $250.00 VISA Gift Card!

September 15 :: Taste over 25 specialty martinis and enjoy delectable cuisine from over 20 of New Orleans’ best restaurants at Martini Madness hosted by Friends of City Park.

September 15 :: The Hispanic Heritage Celebration will be filled with soccer tournaments, bounce houses, special performances from local schools, and Latin food vendors. No cost and open to all!

September 16 :: Celebrate Energy Day at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. Learn about the importance of energy as a natural resource in New Orleans and around the world with PIPE (Petroleum Industry Promoting Education)! What are the properties of oil? How does an oil field form? Form your own carbon molecules. Become a wildcatter in the fast paced oil finder game.

September 16 :: Celebrate the finest of Irish music, food and culture in New Orleans at Irish Fest New Orleans.

September 16 :: A magical costume dance party is set inside Candy Land featuring everything a child dreams of—marshmallows, chocolates, rainbow-colored platters of sugar stuffs. With dance music provided by DJ Peaches, kids activities, food, adult drinks and a silent auction, the entire family will be entertained at the Confetti Kids Candy Land Ball.

September 18 :: Ladies Night Out: Game Day Black & Gold Tutus at Sucré. Craft a festive black and gold tutu while enjoying signature Fleur de lis Meuniere chocolate, chocolate & salted caramel macarons and a complimentary Sucré Sorbet Bellini!

September 21 :: Join Papillon Social Media at Pearl Wine Co. during their weekly wine tasting for Sips and Social Tips. Mingle with fellow New Orleans business owners and entrepreneurs and receive actionable social media tips you can apply to your business right away, all in a fun, informal and informative setting!

September 21 :: Make it a family day at the annual Alligator Festival at the Westbank Bridge Park in St. Charles Parish.

September 22 :: It’s time for NOMA’s annual fall soiree in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, LOVE in the Garden. Head out for a night of dining and dancing under the stars and oaks.

September 23 :: Empire Gymnastics Academy is having Kid’s Night Out for children ages 5-12, and they don’t have to be a member to attend.

September 23 :: Join 25,000+ beer lovers to help kick-off Oktoberfest in New Orleans at NOLA on Tap. This event features live music, 400+ local, national & home brewed beer, food, contests, games, art & merchandise vendors and non-beer drinks.

September 23 :: We Rock the Spectrum is hosting it’s Grand Opening of their new sensory kids gym for kids of all abilities! Children 13 and under along with their caregivers come enjoy our zip line, trampoline, swings, rock wall, interactive games and more!

September 23 :: Celebrate Worldwide Day of Play, an annual event that encourages kids to turn off the television and play outside at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. Kids will have the opportunity to get active outside on their Imagination Playground, enjoy giant outdoor games and more!

September 29 :: Dive into the 8th annual Scales & Ales event with Abita beer, wine from open bars, and delicious cuisine from more than 40 local restaurants.

September 29 :: Ivanov’s Gymnastics is hosting Friday Night Fun Night. Children ages 4.5-13 are welcome to attend; no previous gymnastics experience needed. Pre-registration is required by contacting the gym at 504.889.9800 or [email protected]

September 29-October 1 :: The Gretna Heritage Festival encompasses 25 city blocks and features stages with performances by national entertainers along with some of Louisiana’s finest and favorite local talent. The Festival also features carnival rides, food booths, specialty vendors and more!

Recurring Events and Specials

ZukaBaby’s weekly meetup will be hosted twice a month by professionals from TBEARS, Tulane Building Early Relationships Support & Services, to help provide guidance on everything from baby’s developmental milestones to feeding, sleeping, new sibling transitions, and more. Open to all new parents and parents-to-be, from pregnancy to babies aged 0-24 months. No pre-registration required.

Barre3 is hosting a month-long promotion where any class you take in-studio during September, earns you 2% off a purchase from our select Make it Count items the following month. If you take 3 classes you earn 6%, 5 classes you earn 10%, and so on.
