This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide {we maintain a full calendar of events right here}. Rather, we’ve pulled out a select number of events for your family to enjoy throughout the month. Living in New Orleans can be overwhelming, but our hope is that consolidating events into a resource such as this will make your job as entertainment director a tad easier! May 1 :: Your last chance to catch Disney on Ice at the UNO Lakefront Arena!

May 3 :: Thomas Morstead of the New Orleans Saints is giving FREE snowballs to New Orleans  from 6-8pm at Sal’s Sno-balls in Metairie! Get more details here!

May 4 :: Head over to Covington’s Mellow Mushroom for Mellow Brew Fest.

May 4 :: Visit Vamonos NOLA’s Open House from 4-7pm. All participants who register at the Open House will receive 10% off one week of camp and a chance to win a FREE WEEK OF CAMP! Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo AND support Give Nola Day at Mizado Cocina! Happy Hour all day long, plus other specials! They will give 50% of the proceeds of all Corona Light, Pacificos, Mojitos, Salsas, Quesos and Anticucho de Puerco to the NPN Neighborhood Partnership Network!

The Velvet Cactus opens at 11am on May 5th and will have Paperchase performing at 6:00pm followed by Bag of Donuts at 7:00pm!

Superior Grill will host their annual Block Party. It is the place to be for margaritas and spectacular beer specials all day long. The excitement of people laughing and amazing local talent performing on their live stage can only be described in one word, SUPERIOR!!

May 7 :: Champagne Stroll on Magazine Street: On the Saturday before Mother’s Day, stroll down Magazine Street as their shops stay open until 9pm. There will be music, bubbly, and plenty of special offers, including complimentary champagne at Reginelli’s plus a taste of their new Strawberry Fields Burrata Insalata. It’s a great time to shop for Mom, have an evening out with friends, or just enjoy the weather and the local businesses that make Magazine Street unique!

May 7 :: ZukaBaby in Metairie is hosting its 1st Annual “Treat ‘Ya Mama” Mother’s Day event.  The event will take place at their store located on 3248 Severn Ave. in Metairie. It will include a free gift for moms, store-wide discounts, raffle and door prizes, mini spa treatments from Aveda, free family events and seminars, Mother’s Day craft-making activity for kids, gift specials, refreshments and more!

May 7 :: Crawfish and Roses: the annual crawfish cookoff supporting The UP21 Foundation and The Miracle League at Coquille Park. Purchase tickets in advance: $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 10-17, kids 9 and under are free. At the gate $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 10-17, kids 9 and under are free. Price includes crawfish, sides, and 2 drink tickets!cinco de mayo new orleans

May 7 :: Athleta celebrates the launch of the “Power of She” campaign at Lakeside Shopping Center on Saturday, May 7th at 9:00am. Together with Girls on the Run, Athleta invites all for an empowerment event that will strengthen and educate the local community of women and inspire the next generation of girls.

May 8 :: Enjoy a Mother’s Day Brunch at ZukaBaby+KINDRED Studios from 10am-12pm. Stop on in with the family while you’re out & about for Mother’s Day & enjoy complimentary mimosas, Louisiana Sisters Bloody Marys and light brunch fare! May 8 :: Celebrate Mother’s Day with the Soul Queen of New Orleans! Grammy Award-winner Irma Thomas headlines a Mother’s Day event full of music, food, fun and family at the Audubon Zoo. Complimentary admission for Moms and members.

May 9 :: Join Touro Nutritionist Julie Fortenberry and Guest Speaker Erin Reho Pelias, Owner of ZukaBaby, for an interactive baby food making class on May 9th from 6pm to 7:30pm. They’ll teach you the basics of baby food, including: when and how to introduce solids, the benefits of making homemade baby foods, how to make and store baby foods at home, and more! May 12 :: SongBirth NOLA is hosting a music therapy workshop for expectant moms. On Thursday, May 12 at 7-8 pm, come participate in a drum circle and guided imagery exercise. Learn about relaxation techniques for use during pregnancy and childbirth, how music can enhance childbirth, and tips for creating a birth plan and baby plan. Perfect for any trimester. Held at the Funky NOLA Arts Community at Musicollaborative at 1700 N Broad. $10 at the door, $5 pre-registration available here. There will be door prizes!!

May 21 :: Join Touro on from 10am to noon for a Sibiling Class in the President’s Room. The Sibling Class is where children learn what to expect when a new baby enters the family. Learn what happens when mom goes to the hospital, what to expect when the baby comes home, and more! The class is designed for children 4 years to 11 years of age. This class is FREE of charge. May 21 :: Join Touro on May 21 from 1-3pm in the President’s Room for Joyful Parenting: Your Personal Journey Through Newborn Care. This two hour class is designed for first time expecting parents to provide you with the information and skills you need to care for your newborn at home. Grandparents and other caregivers are also welcome to attend.  This class is offered on a Saturday afternoon every other month. Click here to learn more.

May 26 :: Grab a drink as you sip, sample and shop at this social event for ZukaBaby+KINDRED Studios clients and their friends from 5-7pm.
