Disclosure :: The New Orleans Moms Blog hand selected the items featured in this post. Some are brands we have worked with in the past and some are new, but they are all ones we are personal fans of and already endorse. In order to participate, New Orleans Moms Blog required all vendors to provide product for our contributors because it is important to us that we have firsthand experience with companies and products before recommending them to our readers. Vendors were also required to provide a product for the giveaway. Businesses paid a nominal fee to cover the time and resources required to effectively market this campaign, but all opinions expressed herein are our own. We can assure you that every last one of these businesses has the NOMB “stamp of approval,” and we personally solicited all companies for inclusion.
We have been hard at work over here on this top secret campaign and are so excited to bring the New Orleans Moms Blog’s Favorite Things to you!! We surprised our team this past Monday night with all of these goodies, and the reviews are coming in the same :: these 15 products are perfection and certain to thrill the women in your lives. Let me begin with our favorite New Orleans location where our Favorite Things party was held :: Sobou, the “Spirited restaurant, south of Bourbon!”
SoBou has been recognized on numerous occasions as one of the best restaurants in New Orleans, and our team unanimously agrees. If you have not checked it out, go now. You’re welcome. We were thrilled that SoBou hosted our Favorite Things party, and they exceeded our expectations at every corner.
Our team was treated to complimentary cocktails (and mocktails for our expecting mommas) that were perfectly paired to enhance and complement the delicious menu items. I think it’s safe to say that our favorites were the sweet potato beignets and the crispy chicken on the bone. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. SoBou is a dining experience, and the perfect spot for happy hour with girlfriends, date night with the hubs, or a night out with your family. The vibe is relaxed, fun and cozy, and no other restaurant in the French Quarter matches the ambiance at SoBou.
Planning a party with your friends? Consider SoBou’s Party in a Pinch, and you will not be disappointed. Plus, stop by for lunch Monday through Friday and enjoy $0.25 martinis!
What we love most about these products is that they are all gifts that a New Orleans woman would love to receive and that she would be excited to give. These are all products that we really do think you should run out to get for yourself – or better yet – send this link to your husband! Without further ado, here are our Favorite Things, in no particular order.
Makeup application by Katie Malone Makeup Studio :: Our team LOVES Katie Malone Makeup Studio! I have received Katie Malone makeup applications for all the major events in my life that were professionally photographed: my engagement pictures, my wedding, and my maternity pictures when I was pregnant with my first son. Her makeup application is flawless. My bridesmaids were so impressed that they even hired Katie Malone Makeup for their own special events. A makeup application is perfect for the busy mom for family photos, birthday parties, or for a night out! Katie’s attention to detail, impeccable skill, and her consideration of your wishes (dramatic smoky eye or classic subtle hues?) makes her our favorite makeup artist in New Orleans. Book an appointment now or drop in to her store (located at 5715 1/2 Magazine Street) to purchase the makeup she uses on her clients.
Athletic apparel by tasc Performance :: We love this line of athletic apparel for women and men based right here in New Orleans. Let’s face it: us moms wear yoga pants far more often than we are actually going to yoga class. Shouldn’t we at least look good if we aren’t striking a Lotus pose? They create these super soft performance fabric using bamboo. How cool is that?! The women’s tops are flattering on every body type, and when paired with tasc’s dynamite crop pants (did we mention how SOFT this fabric is? And it has a pocket for your cell phone), you will look and feel great.
Local artwork by Home Malone NOLA :: Several members of our team have worked with Kristin, owner and artist at Home Malone, in the furniture finishing component of her business where she can bring to life pieces of furniture you were ready to toss to the curb. Additionally, we adore the local artwork created by Home Malone. From the hand painted “creole tomato” to the “Makin Groceries” sign, her pieces are representative of South Louisiana and the pride we have for all things that represent home. These make perfect gifts for anyone from New Orleans or anyone who has fallen in love with our city.
Customized gift tags by Kissyfish Design :: Our team cannot say enough positive things about Christine at Kissyfish Design. Her personalized New Orleans themed gift tags make a perfect gift and are a must for the toddler and school age birthday parties we find ourselves attending on a weekly (or bi-weekly) basis. Kissyfish also carries personalized stationary and invitations. Don’t see precisely what you are looking for? Kissyfish can custom make it for you (minimum applies). Double Strap Leather bracelet by NolaMeg Designs :: Our team recently discovered the beautiful hand crafted jewelry of NolaMeg Designs. We simply LOVE the double strap leather bracelet in snake engraved black leather and golden snake print leather. She also carries other leather wrap bracelets in a variety of colors. Of course, as Saints supporters, the black and gold leather wrap bracelet is our absolute favorite! These bracelets are quality made and can be worn casually or for a dressier occasion.
Mardi Gras scarf by Loomed NOLA :: It should be no surprise that Loomed NOLA is on our list of favorite things. This local company imports a wide variety of cloth textiles from Turkey including pestamels, dish cloths, scarves and bedcovers. The pestamels, made of natural and organic fibers are the perfect wrap for you or baby swaddling blanket. The fabrics are light and breathable and perfect for a New Orleans mom. The cloth comes in a variety of hues and shades, each more beautiful than the one before. They also offer one of our personal favorites: the Mardi Gras scarf. We love the festive Mardi Gras scarf that will keep you warm during those cold night parades and guarantee that you are in style. Sarah Ott :: We simply adore local New Orleans mom Sarah Ott’s jewelry because it is stylish, elegant and supportive of local culture. Several of us have the “nola-love” bangle bracelets and are so impressed with how far Sarah’s line has grown. Not only has she expanded her jewelry line, she now offers beautifully designed apparel, scarves, children’s t-shirts, clutches and more. Sarah Ott has recently partnered with Team Gleason and created “Gleason Tags” where 100% of the profit goes to Team Gleason. The Gleason Tags are certain to wow any Who Dat fan. Eyebrow treatment by Waxing the City :: Again, it is no surprise that our team is a huge fan of Waxing the City. Since we all have received the services, we can say without a doubt that it is the best waxing bar in New Orleans. They use a non-abrasive wax that is effective at hair removal but does not leave you with red and puffy skin. In addition to their superb waxing services, Waxing the City also carries the Elke Brow Collection. One versatile product in this collection is the Brow glow. This is a great product that can be used with an applicator brush above and below the brow to lift and make the brows look more polished. It can also be used to highlight the cheekbones. Waxing the City is conveniently located uptown (4121 Magazine Street) and recently opened a new Elmwood location (1212 S. Clearview Pkwy, Suite A).
