New Orleans Moms Who Inspire {Roundup & $500 Giveaway}

We hope you have enjoyed reading about some of the New Orleans moms who inspire us today. Each of these amazing ladies are not only loyal sponsors of New Orleans Moms Blog, they also continually strive to find that delicate balance between being business owners and devoted mothers while teaching their children to never forget that New Orleans will always be home!

Erin of Zuka Baby never saw herself getting married or having children. But now, she’s a wife, a mother, and a business owner. She receives so much encouragement from other moms and hopes to give that kind of encouragement to other moms through ZukaBaby, her natural parenting boutique located on Magazine St. in New Orleans that specializes in natural baby products and also hosts classes and support groups at the store.

Jessica of Nolafionnah, born and raised in New Orleans, started her business out of smocked clothing frustration and began hand-stitching onesies. Since then, Nolafionnah Custom Children’s Boutique has expanded into sewing and embroidery. She is raising her two girls to love the city of New Orleans and experience all of the amazing culture that this city has to offer.

Lindsay of First Look Ultrasound fell in love with her business as customers in 2011 when she was pregnant with her daughter. In January of this year, they acquired First Look Ultrasound, and Lindsay truly feels blessed to be able to be doing what she loves in a business that she’s passionate about with the ability to still have time for her family. In her words, “how can you not love a business that provides this type of experience to the customer (expecting moms) and her family and friends?”

Aime’e of ALG Style preaches to all moms to carry oneself in the utmost style and grace no matter the circumstance; to maintain composure and form with a smile, deodorant, wet-wipes, and a sense of humor. ALG Style provides practical solutions to meet the needs of all your fashion and style predicaments. They offer customized personal shopping, styling and retail consulting packages which are created to address the demands of their diverse clientele.

Nurse Nikki is the proud mother of an awesome little man named Joseph with another little one on the way. In addition to being a mom and wife, she is the proud owner of Nurse Nikki LLC. She provides postpartum home visits to new moms and babies. In addition to providing support for postpartum depression, she also assists mothers with breastfeeding, assess lacerations and Cesarean scars and provide basic baby care advice, as well teaches family CPR and childbirth education classes.

Madeline of Thibodeaux School of Music is mom to Sebastien, wife to Paul and co-owner of Thibodeaux School of Music, where they offer quality musical education for all ages from the Kindermusik program to private lessons on ALL instruments for those older than 6. While learning how to balance the growing pains of both her toddler and her business, she’s trying to enjoy the chaos and realize that these days won’t last forever.

Amanda of Waxing the City was born and raised in Mississippi and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she met her husband Wes, a New Orleans native. They have two boys, Seth and Henry, who both love snowballs and superheroes! Their customers now rave about their Wax, which is exclusive to Waxing the City, their cleanliness and the fact that we are a no tipping facility. She loves her job, and thankfully has been able to arrange her schedule where she still has plenty of time with the kids.

Michelle of SWAP opened Swap Boutique in 2008 in an effort to spend more time with her boys. She has since opened four additional locations in Louisiana. She maintains a positive attitude while celebrating the hectic life of a mother and business owner.  Swap Boutique is a contemporary designer consignment shop for both women which caters to the fashion minded shoppers who appreciate the current trends and also loves to get a deal!

Beatrix Bell quit her day job to start her jewelry design business, Beatrixbell Handcrafted Jewelry, in 2009. Her designs can be found at boutiques and gift shops nationwide, as well as outdoor music festivals and arts markets. While her business was her main priority before her baby was born, her son Max has now taken that spot!

Jill of French Quartour Kids owns and operates the only kids tour company in New Orleans, French Quartour Kids. She strives to be the best step-mom to her husband’s two adorable children, learning from her own experiences she had with her step-mothers. She spends her days time traveling with kids, while loving her new family and relishing in the city’s rich history.

All of the women and businesses named above have been loyal sponsors of New Orleans Moms Blog and did not provide compensation for this post.

I don’t think I have a specific memory that is my favorite memory since I am still pretty new at this, but I just love the idea of having a day all about me with my kiddos! Even when you are sick on Mother’s Day and do nothing, it is still a great day to celebrate your blessings!

I didn’t get to see my son for Mother’s Day, but I did get to talk to him on the phone twice. I am undergoing weekly transfusions, so he is staying with his grandmother about 2 hours away. 🙁

This year was wonderful! My daughter and husband took me to brunch with our friends and then we went to The Children’s Museum and afterwards to have coffee and dessert and THEN my brother in law made us dinner! I felt so special!

Actually it’s one I did for my own mom. I was 10 and I woke up at like 5 am did all the laundry, cleaned and cooked breakfast for my mom. She cried.

My hubs doesn’t believe in mothers day so I’m not celebrated at all. Maybe when the kids are older.

So far, my favorite memory for Mother’s Day was my neat-freak spouse helping my daughter make me a card last year. It involved paint, which made it hilarious, but it was also super sweet.

  31. Jessica May 14, 2014 at 1:36 pm #

My favorite Mother’s day memory actually doesn’t include my own kid. I spent the weekend away from her in order to spend time with my own mom. It was just something both my mom and I needed and my daughter was too young to understand the meaning of that day anyway.

  32. Micki andry May 14, 2014 at 9:58 pm #

My favorite memories growing were going to the LSU baseball games for Mother’s Day. That is the only thing my mother ever wanted to do on Mother’s Day. We had so much fun at those games and most of the time it was their senior game so they would honor the senior players and their moms. Now that mom has passed away, I love taking my boys to the cemetery so they can leave flowers for Grandma. They have never had the chance to meet her but they know a lot about her and always talk about their Angel Grandmother in heaven.

This year provided my favorite memories. My 3.5 year old was in a great mood all day and actually gave me time to shower and do my hair and makeup. She danced in the rain and took a good nap and we capped our day off with a crawfish boil.
