Second Annual Egg Hunt Recap and a Thank You To All Of Our Sponsors

Disclosure: This event was sponsored by a group of AMAZING community partners. Children’s Hospital and The Parenting Center opened their “home” to us with open arms, and we cannot say enough how much it was appreciated. They met with us in advance, answered all of our emails and questions, sat with us for a run of show, dragged tables with us, treated ant piles, stayed late, showed up early and walked every step with a smile. Sincere thank you’s also go to ALL  of the following sponsors that worked with us to put together this amazing event: Touro InfirmaryNew Orleans Children’s Dental, John Robert Powers LouisianaFRESH BAR,Reginelli’sRobert’s Fresh MarketBrown Family Dairy, Creative Sitters, Essie’s Sparkling ConfectionsRosary’s Bitty Balls,Plum Street SnowballsZatarain’s, Let’s pARTy NOLA, Ruth’s Hummus, CC’s Coffee HouseTulane Athletics, Hanley’s Foods and When You Wish Entertainment. Thank you also to Waxing the City Magazine Street and Cannonball Designs for their support of the event program.

Amanda and Son

Let’s just start by saying that it is an event planning nightmare to have a forecast with possible rain on an outdoor event. We did what any reasonable team would do – tweet Margaret Orr, pray, cross our fingers and our toes, and asked everyone that we could to send the good juju our way – and it worked! This past Saturday we were given picture perfect Easter Egg Hunt weather. Amidst clear skies and the green grass of The Parenting Center yard, we greeted over 200 children and their families with food, drink, prizes, face painting, photo-ops and so much more.

At the early hour of 9:00am (the morning after an Elton John concert for many locals, no less), we know that the caffeinated options from the CC’s Coffee House Streetside Cafe made many folks at the hunt very, very happy! CC’s Streetside Cafe is a fun addition to any event; they travel to you and bring the caffeine, which is a huge win! It was so fun to be able to walk up to their mobile “cafe” and order from a large menu of drinks and pastries. Brown’s Dairy had as many (and more) mini milk cartons and orange juices as the kids present could possibly drink. FRESH BAR, Reginelli’s, and Robert Fresh Market all had great food options for both kids and parents. Hanley’s Foods and Ruth’s Hummus were both passing out samples of their local products. Did you get to try the salad dressing or hummus? Sweets were plentiful with adorable Easter themed cookies from Essie’s Sweet Confections and cake pops from Rosary’s Bitty Balls. Plum Street Snowballs were also on site providing mini snowballs for all.

Zatarain’s hit a home run with face painting for the kiddos, as well as swag and products for the parents. The variety of face painting creations wandering around really was adorable. Let’s pARTy NOLA really out did themselves with their Easter themed photo area and photo props. You can check out all of the photos that Tiffany McEntee Photography took in that area over on Facebook. Melissa of Let’s pARTy NOLA is available to make custom coloring books and photo props for any theme, which is a really fun way to jazz up your children’s parties or even your adult dinner parties! Tulane Athletics came out and brought their uber friendly mascot, Riptide, who was spotted posing for pictures galore. Tulane University is bringing football back on campus in Uptown New Orleans this fall, which will be a really fun family atmosphere come August 2014! Last, but definitely not least, When You Wish Entertainment was in attendance with not one but TWO characters: an Easter Bunny and Snow White. Every time we have ever interacted with When You Wish Entertainment we have been stunned by how wonderful their personalities are and how well they interact with children: this company is the real deal! They are available for birthday parties, storytime and whatever other events suit your fancy! With backgrounds at Disney, this couple will not disappoint!

Egg Hunt Prizes and Raffle Items

The four Egg Hunts, divided by age group, went just wonderfully! We had an abundance of swag (to say the least) thanks to our generous Egg Hunt prize sponsors, and the kids were just thrilled. Their baskets were truly overflowing with products, but thankfully Touro Infirmary kindly provided extra reusable grocery store bags for kids to hunt with (can you say “first world problems?”). Many moms repeatedly told us that while they LOVED the Elmer’s chocolate, they were super excited that their kids had the chance to hunt for healthier snack items, toys, sunscreen and tickets to local attractions as well. Thank you to all of our Egg Hunt prize sponsors including:

My girls love the pirates booty(not sure if it’s the name or the actual product that makes them giggle) and we got a chance to taste some yummy treats that I may not have thought about buying before!
