Introducing Trish: Southern Girl turned Big City Girl, now happily back Home Sweet Home

trish & matt wedding

I was born in the beautiful state of Louisiana in spring of 1980. My mother fondly recalls each year as my birthday approaches how the flowers were all in bloom when they brought me home from the hospital and that they were all pink! (My favorite color to this day…)

Throughout the years, due to my father’s New York City based career, we slowly moved from Louisiana to Alabama, and then to Virginia. I made the decision to move to the greater NYC area for college at Marymount/Fordham University, graduating with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, including a nine month study abroad in England and France. Upon graduating, I moved to Washington, D.C., and enjoyed a three-year career as a Buyer for an upscale boutique in downtown D.C.

One summer weekend, I took a trip home to New Orleans for my dear cousin’s wedding, and happened upon a very handsome gentleman who was a friend of the bride – lucky me! We hit it off on the dance floor for what seemed to be forever, and while sipping sodas post-wedding at Camellia Grill, I think we both knew this was something very special. Seven months later, he had a surprise in store. For Mardi Gras weekend, Matt planned a proposal at Nottoway Plantation, and a weekend of family celebrations that followed. Such a wonderful weekend to celebrate with all of the Mardi Gras festivities underway!

We were married in Washington, D.C. on September 24, 2005, and have since moved from New Orleans to New Jersey to Pennsylvania, then back to Old Metairie and most recently purchased our home in Mandeville in August 2012.

Our bubbly, darling Stella Rose was born on June 25, and it is amazing to watch her grow and enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer through her eyes. My journey as a new mother has had so many challenges, yet so many rewards and learning opportunities. I cannot wait to connect with more New Orleans moms and share in your joys and journeys as well!

Have you moved away from New Orleans post-Katrina and since returned? We couldn’t be happier to be home!

  2. Welcome, welcome! We, too, spent time away from home as you know, but I agree that it is amazing to be back …. because where else can you wear a seersucker bonnet and monogram everything without getting odd looks?!? 🙂

  3. Welcome Trish! Stella’s only about a month younger than Nathaniel, and you guys are just right around the corner. If you ever want a play date, we are definitely up for it! Beautiful pics, btw, of your wedding and baby Stella 🙂
