Celebrating WYES’ inaugural year, 1957, viewers are invited to get out those poodle skirts, leather jackets and cuffed jeans and jitterbug until you drop at WYES SHAKE, RATTLE & ROLL, a sock hop, benefiting WYES on Saturday, November 18th at the WYES Paulette & Frank Stewart Innovation Center for Educational Media at 916 Navarre Avenue in New Orleans.
Guests can look forward to a costume contest judged by New Orleans personalities Becky Allen and Marshall Harris. Auctioneer Chuck Mutz will invite guests to bid high and bid often during a live auction featuring a commissioned painting by Carmen Waring and a package with a stay at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis with VIP entrance to Graceland.
Raffle tickets are available in advance at wyes.org for a platinum, diamond and pink spinel Art Deco style ring designed by Tom Mathis and donated by Symmetry Jewelers and Designers valued at $5,670. Winner need not be present to win and will be announced at the event.
