Let me start by saying I have friends much more skilled in hair than myself. I’ve kept my hair shoulder length or above for most of my life, so there is only so much you can do with shorter hair. I had it longer in high school, but my mom always fixed it for gymnastics, dances, etc. so I never had to. Last year I decided I wanted a little more length so I could embrace my naturally wavy hair. It’s still all over the place so I do have to fix it, but waving tends to be easier and lasts longer between washes. One day, my hair stylist started waving my hair with a flat iron and it seemed doable, since I already knew my flat iron well. After watching her and some practice, I can wave my hair in about 10 minutes.
Since it’s summer, tousled, beach waves are a great low-fuss way to fix your hair. Watch this quick tutorial to learn how to do it yourself!
