NOLA Moms Need to Know :: New Orleans Activities in July 2017

It’s time to soak up some summer fun in NOLA this July!!

This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide {we maintain a full calendar of events right here}. Rather, we’ve pulled out a select number of events for your family to enjoy throughout the month. If you have suggestions or additions, please leave a comment!

July 1 :: Join La Petite Tea Room for their Spa Release party! The party includes facials, manicures, pedicures, snacks and much more! Cost is $20 per child. Reservations only.

July 5-7 :: Posh Paint Pub is offering a 3 day camp for kids and parents! Spend some quality time  with your child painting a tea set!

July 6 :: Orpheum Theater’s Summer Film Series presents, Moana at the Orpheum Theater with FREE admission.

July 6 :: Mermaid Fairy Garden Workshop at Longue Vue Gardens. Calling all fairy enthusiasts! Get your hands dirty and your creativity flowing by joining us to create an underwater themed terrarium. Maybe you’ll attract a mermaid fairy! Reservations required. Space is limited. Program fee covers one admit and one terrarium.

July 6 :: Visit the Copeland’s of New Orleans Chicken Jam and celebrate National Fried Chicken Day with Bag Of Donuts, Me and My Friends and Copeland’s Spicy Herb Fried Chicken.

July 7 :: Head downtown at 11:00am for a FREE Johnette Downing concert at  the National Jazz Historical Park.

July 8 :: The 11th Annual Running of the Bulls at San Fermin in Nueva Orleans (SFNO) is the city’s most incredible Summer Spectacle! Join thousands of runners as they roam the streets of New Orleans and party with hundreds of Rollerbulls (roller derby skaters with horns on their helmets and plastic bats in their hands) from around the globe during the Encierro.

July 8 :: Piety St. Market. 60+ vendors offer a wide array of creative art, handmade jewelry and crafts, homemade goodies, vintage clothes & collectibles, used books and flea market finds in a bustling neighborhood setting.

July 13 :: The W French Quarter is hosting Dive in Movie Night and showing Notting Hill – Make it a Mom’s Night Out! The Dive-in movie is free to attend.  The pool opens at 6:30pm and the movie starts when the sun sets. Poolside bites and cocktails available as well as complimentary popcorn.

July 14 :: Bastille Day Fête takes place at the New Orleans Museum of art and celebrates the connection between Louisiana and France.

July 15 :: Summer Sip n’ Spree. Check out the West Magazine (5400 to 6200 blocks of Magazine St) for a fun day of shopping, refreshments, and specials provided to you by your favorite local shops! Beat the NOLA heat with some retail therapy.

July 8 & 22 :: Slidell Movies in Heritage Park

July 15 :: Celebrate Nouvelle Orleans at the Louisiana Children’s Museum! Find out how France has shaped New Orleans today! Create a French craft, learn to speak a few French words, and more!

July 18-23 :: Check out Tales of the Cocktail, the world’s premier series of cocktail festivals – highlighting what’s now, new and next in the spirits industry.

July 22 :: Westbank Beer Fest, the newest addition to the Louisiana festival calendar, takes place at NOLA Motorsports!

July 28 :: City of Covington’s Columbia Street Block Party: This free family event features classic cars, shops and art galleries open late, live and DJ entertainment, and food and drinks. Columbia Street from the 200 to 500 block is closed to vehicle traffic after 5pm and reopens at 10pm. Free off-street parking and in public parking.

Recurring Events and Special Deals

Mondays :: Join ZukaBaby’s weekly New Parent Playdate for open play and storytime fun. Parents and babies age 0-12 months. No pre-registration required.

Wednesdays :: ZukaBaby is hosting Baby Sign Language Sign & Play! Learn to sign and sing a new song, share storytime with friends, and enjoy open play. No pre-registration required.

Fridays :: Catch Dinner and a ZOOvie at Audubon Zoo!

Fridays :: Playmakers Indoor Sports is offering 1/2 off laser tag every Friday in July. Each Friday night game is $4 for kids and adults alike from 5pm to midnight (Call ahead if coming after 8pm).

July 11 :: Dress like a cow in honor of Cow Appreciation Day and score FREE food from Chick-Fil-A !

July 17-22 :: BOGO week at Nothing Bundt Cakes! Buy one bundtlet and get one bundtlet free.(Limit one free bundtlet per guest per purchase) Visit any of the following locations: 4839 Prytania Street in New Orleans; 3131 Veterans Memorial Blvd. #100 in Metairie; &1111 Greengate Drive #D in Covington.

New Orleans Moms Blog Neighborhood Group Activities

Have you joined one of our NOMB Neighborhood Groups yet? These groups are always gathering for a night out or playdates. Our Mombassadors are working on plenty of MNO’s and playdates all across the New Orleans area – please note that in order to view these activities, you’ll need to join the group for your area.
