Condolences to Erin Reho Pelias, Former Owner of ZukaBaby

When I was pregnant for the first time and later as a new mom, the former Uptown location of ZukaBaby (German for sweet baby), then owned by Erin Pelias, was my home base. I had a baby registry there and took classes from cloth diapering to nutrition. On many occasions I walked in desperate for help :: my original baby carrier hurt my back and Erin took the time to sit down and research one with lumbar support; natural  supplies for first teeth!; first eco-friendly school lunch containers!; supplies for baby number two! I also frequented the store for La Leche League meetings and a comfortable place to change, nurse, and meet and connect with other families.

I can’t imagine pregnancy and early motherhood without the support of Erin, her staff, and carefully curated store as a resource. I’m sure so many New Orleans parents felt that way, so I know you will share my sadness upon learning that Erin’s husband, Michael, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2017.

If Erin or ZukaBaby have been part of your village, we welcome your support and sentiments here.

If you’d like to help, here are two ways to do so.

The family has requested that in lieu of gifts and flowers, cards and contributions are warmly appreciated. They may be sent to ::
