NOLA Moms Need to Know :: Your Guide to June in New Orleans

Summer is here, y’all, as is your guide to enjoying June in New Orleans!! The kids are out of school {or almost out} and it’s time to parrrrty!! Okay, more like, it’s time to organize summer camps, babysitters, playdates, etc. We hope to make your job just a little easier by rounding up some local events that the whole family can enjoy!!

This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive event guide {we maintain a full calendar of events right here}. Rather, we’ve pulled out a select number of events for your family to enjoy throughout the month. If you have suggestions or additions, please leave a comment!

June 1 :: Waxing The City Elmwood is hosting their Summer Kick Off Party.

June 2 :: New Orleans City Park is celebrating National Doughnut Day the adult way! Get tickets to their June Under the Moon party!

June 3 :: The Rubber Duck Derby, benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank takes place at Big Lake in City Park

June 3 :: In the spirit of summer, the Covington Business Association presents the first annual Kokomo Stroll! Flip-flops and boat drinks will be a plenty as crowds fill the downtown streets strolling from business to business to taste the most scrumptious summer drinks!

June 3, 6 :: Join Touro Dietitian Julie Fortenberry, RD, for a hands-on Farmer’s Market tour. Learn the concept of “farm to table”, how you cam shop local, eat healthy and incorporate fresh ingredients into your daily meals without breaking the bank.

June 3-4 :: The New Orleans Oyster Fest is taking place at Woldenberg Park!

June 6 :: Join ZukaBaby and Nurse Nikki for an a non-biased, informative discussion on infant nutrition where you can ask questions, express concerns and receive professional support.

June 8 :: It’s Ocean Friends Forever Day at the Louisiana Children’s Museum. Enjoy a full day of programs in honor of World Oceans Day in partnership with Louisiana Public Broadcasting and PBS’s newest children’s program – Splash and Bubbles!

June 9 ::The East Jefferson YMCA is hosting a Family Movie Night! The pool will be reserved for families who have kids with special needs and they will watch Finding Dory on a 12 foot inflatable screen! The cost is $5/person.

June 10 :: Uptown Needle & CraftWorks is having Second Saturday Sewing School for children ages 7-12. Call 504-302-9434 to register.

June 16 :: Visit the English Tea Room for a journey of India! Explore the Indian culture & traditions while tasting exotic Indian cuisine & teas.

June 17 :: Kick off summer with your family on the Mississippi River! The Steamboat Natchez will be hosting Family Fun Day complete with a magician, balloon clowns, a spray tattoo artist and appearances by Spiderman!

June 17 :: Celebrate summer at The Shops at Canal Place with live music, complimentary wine and Abita Beer, and great summer specials from our shops.

June 17 :: La Petite Tea Room is celebrating Father’s Day with a Daddy and Me Tea, which includes dress up for the children, a special Father’s Day craft, nail polish application for the girls, and a tea party with Daddy!

June 18 :: Celebrate with your Dad at Urban South where they’ll have a new batch of DDH Holy Roller,Barrel Aged beers, along with plenty of activities for the kids!

June 22-24 :: FestiGals has planned an exciting, stress-free weekend with you in mind complete with meals, cocktails, presentations, unique insider adventures and tours — all available to you during the 2017 FestiGals New Orleans Women’s Weekend Experience.

June 23-25 :: Catch Madagascar Jr. at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center. Take a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends from the blockbuster DreamWorks film.

June 23-25 ::Marvel fans, assemble for this live, action-packed, legendary battle to defend the universe from evil. Catch Marvel Universe Live at the Smoothie King Center.

June 24 :: Join the Louisiana Children’s Museum for the Kid’s Food Festival To-Go! Learn the importance of achieving balance in food choices through fun activities and sampling family-friendly foods.

June 29-July 2 :: : Get ready for the best in R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, and more! New Orleans is hosting Essence Fest, the nation’s premier showcase for contemporary African American music and culture.

Recurring Events

Wednesdays :: ZukaBaby is hosting Baby Sign Language Sign & Play! Learn to sign and sing a new song, share storytime with friends, and enjoy open play. No pre-registration required.

Fridays :: Catch Dinner and a ZOOvie at Audubon Zoo!

    The St Parish festival info up here is for the 2016 one- do you happen to have the 2017 info?

      Hey Abigail! Thanks for letting me know! That must have been my mistake. I thought that was the 2017 information; I have yet to come across 2017 information, so I’ve removed that listing from the post and will continue searching. We’ll be sure to add it if we find it!
