My Ever-changing Body

I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent the better part of the last 8 years yo-yoing between being pregnant, nursing and dieting. My body has changed in ways I could never have imagined.

Before I started having children, I would head to the mall and shop for the cutest bras I could find; my only requirement being that they have matching undies. It was glorious to shop so freely, but admittedly, none of the garments ever really fit me properly.  They would either have a gap in the cup, straps that wouldn’t stay put, or the cups would lift up over my breasts whenever I would raise my hands up. Oh and not to mention those thick fabrics that left me sweaty and uncomfortable by the day’s end.

Once I became pregnant, I continued wearing my ill fitting bras. Maybe the gap between the cup of the bra and my breasts filled in a bit, but the other problems remained. Nursing, was a whole other beast. I’d only take my frumpy nursing bra off to shower. It was the size of 6 sports bras and about as appealing as my baby’s diapers.

Freedom From Pregnancy and Nursing

Once I finished nursing my last son, I felt defeated. It had been 8 years and 17 different bra sizes; I didn’t even know where to start. I settled into a basic sized sports bra that I picked up one day while grocery shopping. That’s right. I’ll take a bra in a box, size M, alongside my bulk Cheerios.

Finding the Holy Grail of Bra Shopping

NO MORE! Let me tell you ladies. Whether you’re nursing, pregnant, just gave birth or want those sexy matching pieces back in your life, there is help!

After a short drive jamming out to my favorite tunes ALONE in the car, my attendant at Bra Genie was waiting with a smile to help me bust out of those ill fitting bras.  We spent a little time discussing what I was looking for in a bra then she led me to the back and showed me to a comfortable dressing room.

Next, she discreetly and very tastefully measured my bust. Once she had noted my proper size, she briefly left the room to gather my options. I didn’t have to dig through racks and racks looking for the right size, they were delivered direct to me.

The attendant came in the room, with me where she taught me how to properly cup my breast into the bra, how the straps should fit and where the hooks in the back should go. There were some bras that were not a great fit for my shape, but within 3-4 tries, we found the brand that fit me PERFECTLY!

I now have a few bras that fit my body. They’re pretty, the fabric is soft and I finally feel like I’m wearing something made for my body. I only wish that I knew service like this existed years ago. I have been wearing bras that were 3 cups too small and 4” too big my entire life.

Now that I have an account there, all I have to do when I go in is let them know what color or style I’m looking for. If you’ve never been fitted by a professional, I highly recommend it. There is a true and definite difference between the bras I used to wear and the ones that Bra Genie fitted me for. Even if you’re not ready to buy, I highly recommend getting fitted.

We are thrilled to announce that one lucky reader will win a $100 gift card to Bra Genie just in time for Mother’s Day!

That’s me all they way, except the last 10 years. I’ve ranged from 114 lbs to 200 and back down and still going down. Sports bras are my best friends! I have absolutely no clue what size I am not have I taken the time out or want to spend the money on getting sized yet bc I’m still losing weight. But boy do I need a bra sizing AND that $100 credit towards a new bra!
