Girl Vs. Grill: Teriyaki Glazed Salmon

Today on the blog we are thrilled to bring you a fun, lighthearted series in preparation for summer! It’s starting to warm up, the days are longer, the kids are taking swim lessons and we’re gearing up for … summer barbecue season! We don’t know about you all, but our team loves nothing more than relaxing with family and friends during these slower New Orleans days. We are thrilled to partner with Langenstein’s and Touro Infirmary as sponsors to bring you “Girl Vs. Grill,” a collection of online summer recipes that will culminate with two in person events in May. We hope you will take inspiration from these recipes, register for the dietitian led shopping tours on May 14 and join us for an interactive learning (and shopping) experience. As always, there will be swag … this time it will just be centered around creating the perfect summer grilling party!

Girl Vs. Grill: Teriyaki Glazed Salmon

I’m so thankful to be married to a pretty stellar cook. One of the things that he is fantastic with is the grill. In most households summer is for grilling but over in our house, we grill almost nightly. It’s how my husband prefers to cook, and I’m not complaining. The grill is usually not my territory but I decided to venture out and mimic one of my favorite dishes that I order at restaurants: Teriyaki Glazed Salmon. We paired it with our favorite boxed rice by Zatarains and some green beans. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Ingredients

  • 2 servings of salmon
  • Soy sauce
  • Seasoning
  • Garlic
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Teriyaki glaze

Start by marinating your salmon skin side up in soy sauce for 30 minutes. Next, sprinkle your salmon with your favorite seasoning and lemon juice. Put a piece of foil on a hot grill and brush it with olive oil.

Place salmon flesh side down and let it sear for five minutes on the foil. This prevents the fish from sticking onto the grill grates. After five minutes, flip the fish off of the foil onto the grill grates skin side down.

Lastly, brush salmon with your favorite teriyaki glaze and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
