A Perfect “Birthday Style” Party at the Palm Tree Playground {A Playdate Recap}

Disclosure: This event was made possible by all of our wonderful event sponsors. Thank you to Palm Tree Playground, Borden Dairy, Reginelli’s, Boca Dulce Cakes and When You Wish Entertainment. All photos in this post were captured by our photography sponsor MDP Photography. We could not have asked for a better group of companies to work with!

This past Friday we hosted a “Birthday Style” playdate for 40 children and their families at the Palm Tree Playground. This playdate was a great chance for the kids to play and moms to mingle and relax within the confines of the playground (no worries of escapees). Slightly different than a normal birthday party, the kids at this party were welcomed first with their party bags: swag bags filled with treats from our swag sponsors including Boogie Wipes, Puffs Fresh Faces, Reginelli’s yo yos, Peter Rabbit pouches, Brownie Brittle, Let’s pARTy NOLA coloring books and Kleenhanz.

It is always fun to see little personalities emerge as some kids launch themselves at the large play structure while others prefer the safety of the toddler play area. It never ceases to impress our team the cleanliness of the playground and the helpfulness of the “lifegaurds” (aka the helpful Palm Tree Playground staff) who are dedicated to making sure the kiddos are safe and that the party is running smoothly. After the kids burned off some energy, both children and families alike helped themselves to pizza and salad provided by Reginelli’s, mini cartons of milk provided by Borden Dairy, as well as juice boxes and coffee provided by Palm Tree Playground.

About halfway through the party, something quite exciting happened, courtesy of our event sponsors, When You Wish Entertainment. Princess Frozen and Spider Dude arrived! The looks on the little kids’ faces were truly priceless and precious. After some great photo ops and even some playtime with Spider Dude in the play structure (honestly, what is better than a character climbing in a play structure with adoring kids?!) the characters led the children to the upstairs party rooms for a little storytime. I personally am not very into “the magic of Disney,” but I can honestly say when the princess launched into a little sing along with all of the children during storytime it brought tears to my eyes because it was so sweet. Spider Dude was uber impressive, staying crouched and in character for his entire appearance. For his part of the show, he taught the kids a lesson about kindness and then had them up and about performing Spider Dude moves … the cuteness factor was out of control.

After storytime and activities, the kids went back downstairs for the best part of any birthday: the cake! Boca Dulce Cakes created an amazing three tiered beauty for our party, and it was delicious. As parents and kids savored their cake, we picked the winners of our giveaways. Three lucky moms won great prizes. We raffled off an Audubon Zoo membership, a New Orleans Museum of Art Membership, and a Luau Birthday Party from the Palm Tree Playground!

Many thank you’s to all who sponsored this event and to all of the moms that came to join us. We continue to work hard to make sure these events are beneficial and enjoyable to all of those involved because of all of you that continue to support us and show up! We appreciate you all and are so thankful for this wonderful platform that has allowed us to connect moms.
