Louisiana Children’s Museum – Giveaway

I have so many fond memories of the Children’s Museum that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. My grandmother used to take me all the time, and I absolutely loved it. I have vivid memories of standing in the soap tray and pulling the string as high as I could, as well as shopping for groceries in the supermarket. I also loved pretending to be a newscaster and running up and down those huge stairs. So many fabulous memories, and I am sure I am not the only one who spent many hot and rainy days there! In fact, one of LCM’s core principles is the “stickiness factor.” As Malcolm Gladwell described in his book The Tipping Point, the specific content of a message can make it memorable. LCM aims to combine education with enjoyment in a way that leads not only to effective learning, but to lasting memories as well (credit LCM website). I would say that they’ve absolutely accomplished that given all of the memories I carry with me today.

Every once in a while I have those moments where I realize “wow, this is amazing; life has come full circle.” It is surreal to me that I now bring my child to the same pediatrician who treated me and that we’re able to experience things that we did as children (my husband also grew up here) with our own. The Children’s Museum is definitely at the top of our favorite activities here in New Orleans!

And, just in case you didn’t know, there are big plans in the future for the Museum … a big move is being planned to City Park! Situated on 12 acres in New Orleans’ historical City Park, the 90,000 square-foot Early Learning Village campus will house the Museum, a nature center, literacy center, parent and teacher resource center, childcare center, performing arts center and café. There will be edible gardens, multi-purpose outdoor spaces, and discovery walks spanning acres of ecosystems (credit LCM website). Just when we thought the Children’s Museum couldn’t get any better…

We are giving away 3 sets of admission passes to the Louisiana Children’s Museum. All launch week giveaway winners will be announced on Saturday, August 18.

My favorite memory of the LCM was when I went in 2nd grade and it was shopping at Winn-dixie, it was really cool how everything was made for our size, I also loved the giant bubble you would stand inside in. I am now 24 with a 2 y/o son and have bought him to the museum twice. I would love to take him more often though!!
